New Club Records & Championship Victories

Several St George athletes competed with great distinction at the Australian All Schools Track & Field Championship in Hobart, Tasmania.

Congratulations go to:

Pita Toamotu
claimed the National Championship for Boys Discus Throw U14 with his winning throw of 48.66m; and set a new Boys Shot Put U14 Club Record whilst claiming the bronze medal with his throw of 16.97m.

Grace Robinson
claimed the National Championship for Girls Shot Put U16 with her winning throw of 14.58m.

Mathew Rees
claimed the National Championship and set a new Boys Javelin Throw U16 Club Record with his winning throw of 58.78m.

NSW Relay Championship

A big thank you to all St George competitors and to their family and friends who turned up to support the teams over the weekend. There were magnificent results all round. 22 teams competed, with 12 teams winning medals. 3 Gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze.

New Club Records

St George athletes have started the track & field season with a number of new club records at the NSW All Schools Track & Field Championship held at SOPAC.

Congratulations to:

Grace Robinson
broke the U14 Club Record for 1kg Discus Throw on 11/10/12. Grace's throw of 39.33m broke her existing record of 35.72m from 21/11/10.

Pita Toamotu
broke the U14 Club Record for 1kg Discus Throw on 11/10/12. Pita's throw of 49.38m broke the existing record of 46.55m that was set by Hame Sele on 14/02/10.

Pita Toamotu
broke the U14 Club Record for 3kg Shot Put on 11/10/12. Pita's throw of 16.34m broke his existing record of 15.46m from 16/03/12.

Mathew Rees
broke the U16 Club Record for 700g Javelin Throw on 14/10/12. Mathew's throw of 56.78m broke his existing record of 56.21m from 18/03/12.

Fundraising: Knights of St George Heart Foundation

The Club is proud to announce that funds in excess of $4000 were raised by the Rockdale City Community Fun Run & Walk this year.

These funds will go to the Knights of St George Heart Foundation to assist their medical research programs.

Thank you to all who participated on the day, helped behind the scenes or donated these much needed funds.

Vale Daniel Batman

Sprinter
Daniel Batman
has been tragically killed in a single-vehicle accident on the Arnhem Highway about 90km southeast of Darwin in the early hours of Tuesday 26th June.

Daniel Batman
Daniel rose to prominence as a 100m, 200m and 400m sprinter, and is the current club record holder for 200m (20.78s) and 400m (45.02s). Daniel competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

Daniel is remembered as a dedicated athlete with a heart of gold who always wore his 'red & white' with great pride.

"Daniel Batman was the best all-round sprinter Australia has ever seen" - Matt Shirvington.

Daniel's funeral service will be held Friday 6th July at 1pm at Woronora Cemetery.
NSW Long Course Cross Country Championship

Runners were greeted by cold & windy conditions at Nowra, with St George athletes winning 3 gold and 1 bronze medal.
