(4:24.76) who have both qualified in the heats today for the finals of the Women's Open 1500m to be held on 17 April in Melbourne.

New Australian Record

Belinda Martin
has again broken her existing Australian Masters 35+ 1500m Record.

This record had stood at 4:29.51 since 1986 before Belinda ran 4:27.45 on 19/2/11, 4:26.15 on 26/3/11 and now 4:24.76 on 16/4/11 to lower the standard by 4.75 seconds.

Australian U17 Target Development Squad

Matilda Werner
who has been selected into the 2011 Australian U17 National Development Squad.

Since 2006 Athletics Australia has targeted junior athletes from across the country to provide a pathway to success as a future star of athletics in Australia. Selections are based on competition results and potential displayed. Activities include education programs for athletes and their coaches, support networks, and an annual training camp.

NSW Masters & Under 23 Championships

St George club members have represented the club with great distinction, with six competitors finishing with five silver & three bronze State medals.

    claimed silver medals in the M60 1500m and M60 5000m events.
  • Dale Jones
    claimed a silver medal in the M55 800m and a bronze medal in the M55 1500m.
  • Henry Elliott
    claimed a silver medal in the M45 5000m.
  • Vilis Gravitis
    claimed a silver medal in the M65 800m.
  • Sonya Kelly
    claimed a bronze medal in the WU23 Javelin Throw.
  • Karen Stanley
    claimed a bronze medal in the W45 5000m.
NSW Track & Field Championship

Eight St George athletes competed in fine style representing the 'Red & White', with four claiming State medals.

  • Belinda Martin
    stood on top of the podium winning the State 10,000m Championship (35:29.85), and placed fifth in the open women's 1500m and breaking her existing Australian Masters 35+ 1500m Record (4:26.15).
  • Nicole Harris
    claimed a silver medal in the women's 800m AWD-amb (2:51.22).
  • Bridey Delaney
    placed second in the open women's 1500m (4:17.30) after leading for most of the race.
  • Alison Severino
    claimed the bronze medal in the open women's javelin throw (40.10m).
IAAF Sydney Track Classic

Bridey Delaney
has broken her existing 1500m Club Record with her third place run at the Sydney Track Classic.

Bridey's time of 4:10.32 breaks her record of 4:11.01 that was set two weeks ago at the IAAF Melbourne Track Classic.
