Three mums on a roll for Commonwealth Games selection

THREE mothers are among five St George and Sutherland Shire women runners who have put themselves in line for selection to the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Combined Catholic Colleges

More great results all-round from all our junior members who competed at Combined Catholic Colleges schools carnival on 9th September.

Pita Toamotu
claimed two 14 Years Boys State titles winning both the Shot Put and Discus Gold medals, while also claiming a silver medal in the Javelin.

Grace Robinson
won the 15 years girls Shot title, and podium positions with Silver in the Discus & a Bronze medal in the Javelin.

Tania Minutolo
won the 16 years girls Silver in Shot Put and a fourth place in the Discus.

Emily Wilson
finished in fourth place in the 16 years girls Javelin.

Irene Minutolo
claimed fourth place in the 14 years girls Javelin.

Kelly Wilson
finished in fifth place in 12 years years Long Jump.

Combined High Schools

Our young members who competed in the Combined High Schools Track & Field Championship from 5th to 7th September have made another great start to a new season with some super results recorded.

Mitchell Pepper
claimed three State titles winning Javelin, Shot Put & Discus in Boy's 15 Years. He also set a new club record for the U16 Male 1Kg Discus throw (59.07m). The previous Club record had been held by D. Kipriotis at 54.37m since 24-11-2001.

Corey Anderson
won Javelin, claimed second in Shot Put and third for Discus in Boy's 12-15 AWD T/F20 (21 points).

Matthew Rees
won Javelin 16 Years Boy's with a 63.45m throw - not far off his 63.67m U18 club record.

Stevie Donougher
recorded a Silver medal performance in the Girl's 15 Years Triple Jump with 11.32m.

Joshua Dickson
claimed the Silver medal in 14 Years Boy's Javelin with a 43.21m throw.

Jarawan Dixon
won the 13 Years Girl's Javelin with a 33.69m throw.

Australian Cross Country Championship

Christopher Breen

Bridey Delaney
who competed admirably in the Australian Cross Country Championship.

Christopher Breen
competed in the Under 14 Male 3km and fought through the field to finish in an admirable 28th Place. Christopher was part of the NSW All Schools Team who won the School Sport Australia Teams GOLD MEDAL. A fantastic effort!

Bridey Delaney
competed in the Open Women's 8km event today. I am very pleased to announce that Bridey ran extremely well in a sprint finish to win the gold medal and the title 2013 AUSTRALIAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPION!!!

Bridey has made herself known on the Track, but has found a new discipline, beating the best cross country runners in Australia to claim the National Title. What an amazing performance! In addition to this, Bridey was part of the NSW team that won the SILVER MEDAL in the Athletics Australia teams event.

Please congratulate both these runners when you next see them. What amazing athletes we have in our club!

Achievements such as these make you proud to say that you are with the mighty Red and Whites!!

Illness mars St Lawrence's tilt at World Championships

Illness threatened to ruin Bullaburra middle distance runner Ben St Lawrence's IAAF World Championships campaign before it even began last week, but perseverance saw him leave Moscow with something to build on.
